Angry Son/Fuel - Angry Son/Fuel Split 7"

Behold. Emo at its inception.  Okay maybe not inception.  And maybe not emo even, I don't know. This is emotional by all definitions - kids with something to say and with the outlet of a split record they could save money and still release their art to whoever might here it. Angry Son side first: Hailing from Oklahoma and only existing for a few years, this band played the West coast and Southwest delivering hard punching noise to every punk rocker. Named after a Rite of Spring lyric they advance the D.C. sound and make it their own through furious vocals and surprisingly steady instrumentation.   The drums are killer and I read somewhere they were supposed to play with Nirvana before they blew up. For fans of any kind of rock music. Fuel is an infamous Bay Area band with Sarah Kirsch's phenomenal guitar wizardry and Aaron Arryo's heavy as a spaceship bass playing. And let's not forget the growls of Jeff Stofan and the excellent Jim Allison on drums. To me they sound like a pop Fugazi, if there could ever be such a thing (no). Angry Son has two tracks, their only two ever released, but they have some cool unreleased stuff worth checking out including a live recording. Fuel has a single track that rips hard. A breezy split that I come back to often. Much love.
