A heavy heavy heavy hitter. Two incredible bands from Florida come together for one of the most essential splits in the whole genre of emo on pioneer label, No Idea. i hate myself from Gainesville follows up their incredible 10 Song LP by bringing the A side. Three long songs that showcase the depressing/impressive sound the band is now infamous for. With an askew outlook on pop culture and life in general, i hate myself screams with hidden intentions and misunderstood meaning. The drumming is nothing short of incredible. The guitar is a kaiju monster, like mortar fire hitting a building. Jacksonville's Twelve Hour Turn's side sounds almost like one song - a blistering concoction of loud/quiet punk. A deep pit of breakdowns and inhuman yelling. There's so much emotion on both sides, it is ridiculous really - they both play different forms of heavy fucking emo rock and this should be an absolute classic marked in whatever greatest emo albums book will come out in the next five years. If you like any form of rock music, please do yourself a favor and try this record out. I picked mine up on orange vinyl for like $10 and haven't been disappointed any of the twenty times I've listened to it.
