Brand Nubian - One For All

The Brand Nubssssss. Hailing from New Rochelle, a suburb of New York City, Grand Puba, Sadat X, and Lord Jamar created an immensely vibrant sound that took the politically active lyrics of Public Enemy to the next level.  The original music video for Wake Up was banned on MTV for featuring a black man in white face. Still, this music is not grim or chaotic; it's colorful and funky and exciting and celebratory of the new music coming out of New York in the early 90's. One For All is an incredible debut filled with common place boasting and rhyme battle-esque deliveries; but the flow is phenomenal and the songs are down-right catchy. This was a dangerous combination and puts the group right up there for best hip-hop debut albums.  They wasted no time in establishing themselves as a formidable group in the war-zone of 90's rap.
